Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta is the city's oldest and largest cemetery. It dates back to 1850 and is known as one of the most haunted places in Georgia. It is home to Maynard Jackson, Bobby Jones, and Margaret Mitchell, among many others. Witnesses say they have spotted uniformed soldiers wandering the grounds and hanging off the trees in the Confederate branch of the cemetery. Other reports include the sound of the Confederate Army roll call among the tombstones and have even heard their names being called out amid the list.

  • I love this cemetery!

It’s hauntingly beautiful. I’m drawn there & have been there many times. It’s so weird because it’s close to downtown Atlanta, which is bustling and noisy. But the second you walk in Oaklands gates, it is so peaceful and quiet! It’s just beautiful!
