This eatery is said to be one of Georgia's oldest buildings (likely built in 1790 or before) and that its basement was reportedly once used in slave smuggling. This is evident because of the old iron tether rings set into the basement floor. At that time, this location was a tavern that also experienced a racial shooting in the 1950's. During segregated times, the tavern opertated as two connected but separate rooms. An African American bartender was shot by the Caucasian bartender's wife after he began dating their daughter. The place was renovated in the 2000's and workers reported that things would often be rearranged or missing; the knives from an expensive set were found embedded point-down in the wooden floor behind the bar. People also say that salt and pepper shakers have been thrown across the room, along with other unusual happenings that occur at any time. The ghosts at this location are said to be friendly.
